MO Beauty Contest, April Fool’s Joke On Taxpayers!
It’s clear that the Missouri “beauty contest” was a joke for us taxpayers, a waste of money, because no delegates were awarded to former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum. Dems also had a chance to vote for U.S. President Barack Obama with about four other unknown names – this all went of course unreported in the lame-stream national media. The lawmakers in Jeff City should have buried this election under piles of elephant and donkey manure — it had to have cost several millions of dollars to execute this presidential beauty contest.
But the three-state “empty” victory of Missouri, Colorado and Minnesota for Santorum while bearing no political fruit has given this political far right-wing kook, phony mileage of fluff and puff from some real journalists, and spins from some political analysts, who basically romp in an anti-Romney camp, using these pieces of psychology warfare to unsettle the Wall Street and Madison Avenue Romney campaign
Already the national morning news with gusto has stuck on this “empty” victory for Santorum like stink on poop. Regardless to the “no delegate” and Missouri’s non-binding votes, it’s clear that the special election also gave some urban Democrats a chance for mischief with their loyal opposition. We couldn’t find one political science guy to explain why so many Dems crossed over to Santorum — was it just to mess around with Romney and create additional diversions in an all-out street brawl? We think so.
This is where the Romney camp fails because they have yet been able to handle negative public perception, no matter how it is manufactured. Perception is reality and successful political spins can dethrone any campaign. Romney has yet endeared himself “totally” to the ultra-conservative base. Keep in mind that the previous “real” Republican presidential primary won by Romney in Florida had him grabbing some significant conservative votes, but it was downplayed by the national media and his own campaign. This was an opportunity to blow their horn with a strong footnote that the campaign wants all voters – independents, and disaffected Democrats, young and old, low-income (wishful thinking) and the working class, etc.
Yesterday, we witnessed Dems at four (4) polling sites cheerfully telling pals that they voted against Romney just to try and keep unrest going. Newt Gingrich was not on the Missouri ballot.
Regardless, Romney has enough money to sprinkle at these beauty contests – if nothing else to keep these little annoyances from building, which can doom a campaign — even build uncertainty with one’s existing earned delegates during the convention nomination process. ,
Romney could be so damaged with these colleague political pour-ons during more debates; negative reacts to more beauty contests – gone unanswered, a few more “I don’t care about the poor….”statements that incumbent Mr. Obama will waltz into the White House – hands down. It’s feeling that way each and every day.
More and more, it appears that the anti-Mormon, anti-millionaire, and insensitive statements are chipping away at Romney’s negatives like an iceberg in Southern California.
And do understand that it’s hard to beat an incumbent, and the incumbency of any elected office has its privileges: Like NBC’s Jimmy Fallon going to the White House to have a workout competition with Michelle Obama.
The Obama machine is working on overdrive, against all of the candidates – don’t fool yourself. It’s clear after eyeballing some of the Missouri numbers that the Democratic hands loyal to the White House were seen in this costly and worthless presidential beauty contest. Stay tune, as corporate titans don’t do so well in alley fights, they are too busy being driven around in limos to stop and smell the political dirt.
