Letter to the Members of the Board Of Aldermen
11 Jun
Dear Members of the Board of Aldermen:
My sincere thanks to each of you for your vote (27-0) to move the airport revenue bond financing, Board Bill #13, forward on May 31.
Currently, the bill sits unsigned on Mayor Lyda Krewson’s desk. There is no legal reason for the bill to remain unsigned, and there is no legal reason for the mayor to bring it back to the Board of Estimate and Apportionment.
The mayor’s inaction is not without consequences. Each day the mayor delays signing risks pushing the close of the bond transaction past its call date, reducing our potential savings. This blatant and willful negligence by Mayor Krewson is costing taxpayers up to $500,000.00 in lost savings.
Even the news that S&P Global Ratings upgraded the airport’s credit rating has not moved the mayor to do the right thing.
Mayor Krewson’s attempt to cause hardship and harm to St. Louis Lambert International Airport to help better the chances for privatization is shameful and it is a slap in the face to the hardworking men and women of this city.
Sincerely,
Darlene Green
