U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (MO.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement after delivering remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) West headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. “It was an honor to join local, state, and federal officials at the NGA West headquarters groundbreaking ceremony. This event marked another important milestone in the years-long effort to keep the agency, as well as the thousands of job it supports, in St. Louis. For more than 70 years, the men and women at the NGA in St. Louis have played an important role in keeping America safe. I’ll keep working to ensure we have the resources needed to get this facility built as soon as possible.”

Blunt has helped lead efforts to ensure that the NGA West facility remains in Missouri. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Blunt worked to secure $291 million in further funding for the construction of the New NGA West facility in North St. Louis as part of the FY2019 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

The 2018 government funding bill provided $200 million for the facility. The land transfer for the new NGA West facility was completed in December 2018.
